I'm thrilled to announce some major upcoming changes to Balanced Alignment and our services. But first, I'd like to share something personal with you.
Yesterday I was thinking about the word “I”, specifically in the context of speaking about Balanced Alignment. The truth is I often find myself saying “we” rather “I.” I’m much more likely to say “we did this” rather than “I did this.” It’s been that way for a long time even before I technically had any “team members.” Using the word “I” felt like a disservice to all of the people who have supported and guided me along the way. At the same time using the word “we” seemed not to sufficiently acknowledge myself for the role I played.
During an evening shower yesterday, it occurred to me that the word I’m looking for doesn’t exist in the English language. What I want is a mix of the words “I” and “we” that also acknowledges the web of support of those in my present and past. What I want to say is this:
I, in collaboration with the countless people who guide, support, love, and encourage me, who lay the foundation for the opportunity I get to pursue, facilitated and orchestrated through the grace of God…
In my heart of hearts that’s what I feel when I say “I” am doing this.
Moreover, I want you to know that you are wholeheartedly included in that definition. You represent the other side of this coin. You’re reading this which means you’ve read other newsletters, listened to podcasts, come to workshops, worked with me as a client, etc. Every interaction I have with you carries so much weight. Even if it’s just seeing the post report email I get from Substack that says 63% of people opened your last post😊, it’s all a divine thumbs up to me which says, “keep going, you’re doing good things.”
Ayurveda is my favorite thing in the world, and the dream I’m currently living is made possible by the community I get to share it with. My gratitude for you plunges deep.
Ok Here Are The Spicy Nachos
We’re opening a clinic! 🥳🥳🎉🎉🎊🎊 Balanced Alignment Ayurveda is opening the first Ayurveda clinic in Indianapolis! Just South of 65 and 465 on Madison Ave. This clinic represents the next evolution of the B.A.A. mission
प्स्वस्थस्य स्वास्थ्य रक्षणं आतुरस्य विकार प्रशमनं
Svasthasya Svāsthya Rakśanam Āturasya Vikāra Praśamanam
To maintain the health and longevity of the healthy and to cure the sick.
I’m absolutely thrilled to take the service potential of both the company and my practice to the next level. Featuring a kitchen, exam room, and treatment room, we are creating a premium holistic wellness clinic. The kitchen gives us the opportunity to make medicinal home remedies for our clients, prepare them healing foods, send them home with those foods and even show them how to make them on site. The exam room offers a beautiful private space in which to connect and conduct our consultations. And of course the treatment room is a gem which allows us to offer both massage therapy and the many physical treatments of Ayurveda.

The beauty of the clinic is that we now have the space to practice authentic Ayurveda in it’s full capacity. One thing that makes ayurveda so special is it’s comprehensive understanding of the body. Ayurveda recognizes not only the physical bodily tissues which we’re familiar with in the West, but also the functional energetic anatomy of the body. Moreover Ayurveda recognizes gut health, digestion, and metabolism as the bridge between the two.
We are now fully empowered to provide care at each layer of the body. There are a vast number of ayurvedic physical treatments to address bodily tissue imbalances such as pain, arthritis, degeneration, stagnation, weight gain, etc. Including physical therapies to alleviate insomnia, sleep issues, energy fatigue, menstrual issues and more.
Hippocrates said “let food be thy medicine,” and he meant it. We’re now able to effectively employ nutritional medicine utilizing natural remedies made from various food and herb combinations. There are so many beautiful home remedies which offer immediate relief in both acute and chronic conditions.
Additionally we’re thrilled to make use of internal ayurvedic plant medicines which offer ways to supercharge our protocols. From promoting gut health, detoxing the body, and targeting specific tissues of the body, there are literally thousands of formulations in ayurveda which help us heal from the inside out.
And of course we’ll always employ circadian medicine offering daily nutrition and lifestyle guidance to facilitate the conditions for your body to express itself naturally, healthfully, and vibrantly.

I believe that a true practitioner of medicine has a primary obligation to pursue his clients highest health, and that abiding by the law is secondary. This is not to indicate that lawful practice isn’t of the utmost importance because it is. The reality is that governments are like people and they go too far sometimes.
A perfect example is Nazi Germany. The atrocities committed by Nazi doctors and medical staff were all legal according to German law at the time. Not only were these practices legal, they were portrayed as acts of compassion. Similar to putting down an old dog.
Thank God we’re not facing such events today, however we would be naive to disregard our own monsters in the closet. Today it’s legal for medical doctors to prescribe powerful pharmaceutical chemical drugs to teens and children, in fact it’s becoming quite common. In some states it’s legal to prescribe permanent life altering drugs to children.
It’s illegal for an ayurvedic practitioner to sell you a medicine from India made from herbs and it’s perfectly legal for doctors to prescribe harsh pharmaceuticals to patients who don’t need them. It’s perfectly legal for the FDA to block life saving drugs from entering the market, to promote drugs which are more profitable than more effective, to put high fructose corn syrup in our food… on and on it goes.
It’s legal for food companies to put preservatives in their food and sell you food which is 8 months old. They’re not obligated to share what’s really in it, or to share their processing practices, or supply chains. They’re just obligated to put a bunch of useless information in the form of a nutrition facts label which is based on the average consumption of Americans rather than actual numbers which indicate good health.
I’m sure it’s obvious by now that I’m not a fan of the big pharma, big government, big insurance, medical soup nightmare. Fortunately, and truly praise be to God I live in a country where I am still free to choose.
The Tortilla Chips
Until recently the clinic was facing a legal problem which has been looming for Balanced Alignment since it’s inception. Because Ayurveda remains an unrecognized science of medicine in the United State, practitioners of Ayurveda (and medicine in general) are woefully restrained by laws and regulations put forth by state and federal governments.
I always knew as time went on I would be faced with the dilemma described above. I knew I would have to choose whether to work in the highest interest of my clients health or to follow the law.
Sometimes things work out in a way that only God himself can facilitate. The solution to me dilemma is simple, revolutionary, and timeless. (Kind of like the science of Ayurveda now that I think about it 😊)
I have established Balanced Alignment Ayurveda as a medical church ministry operating in the private domain of law. This lawful organization liberates us to practice our mission faithfully in pursuit of your highest health and longevity. Our practice will no longer operate within the legal entity of Balanced Alignment LLC.
How it works is actually quite simple. We’re claiming our freedom and right to practice medicine privately amongst ourselves and our members. To gain access to our services, you simply join as a member. 🙌
We’re coalescing some of the services I’ve offered over the past few years, plus adding new ones as new people and new ideas come into the mix. We’re working with joy and passion to finalize a community membership that offers incredible value for our members.
The Jalapenos
Watching this community manifest and grow before my eyes puts an indescribable feeling in my heart and often brings me to tears. I’m so vigorously filled with enthusiasm and zest to continue watching this unbelievable dream unfold. I want to offer a sneak peak of what our community membership will look like; as a member you’ll gain access to:
Our Health Clinic
Our Freshly Prepared Ayurvedic Meal Delivery Service
Quarterly Community Potluck Lunch
Quarterly Newsletter
Our Online Intro to Ayurveda Course
Live Monthly Learning Session
E books (Dr. Monakee has written The Divine Cycle a beautiful text unveiling the Ayurvedic perspective of the menstrual cycle and the lifegiving beauty of it)
Both her and I have more on the way for you 😁
Weekly Community online mindfulness session
And that’s just the beginning. It’s all happening here at home and I’m pumped.
The Sour Cream
In more fun and exciting news I’ve hired someone to help me with the administrative process of the business. The intention is to alleviate my workload so that I can focus on my calling to practice, learn, teach, and speak.
I’d now like to e-introduce you to Connor Bomar 😊 Connor is a simply stellar human being. This is us goofing off at the CIC Banquet this year.
I met Connor in a classroom on IUPUI’s campus where I had the opportunity to speak on Ayurveda for Dr. Hayes’ Religion & Healing course. After the class he came up to me and shared that he was interested in working with me as a client. He told me, “This was exactly the kind of thing I was looking for.”
That was the first time I saw the illuminating sparkle in his eyes. I’ve gotten to know Connor as a client and a friend over the past year and I think he’s simply fantastic. He’s a man of great care, love, and compassion. He’s serious about learning and pursuing his spiritual path. Plus he’s really fun to be around. He’s joyful, open, honest, confident, and powerful. I’m thrilled to work with him and I’m confident in the value he has to offer you and our mission.
Connor is a Marine Corps veteran, holds Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Religious studies from IU Indianapolis (formerly IUPUI), serves on the Board of Directors at Center for Interfaith Cooperation, and is working toward a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Yoga, spirituality, and wellness at Christian Theological Seminary.
I asked Connor to write about our experience in his own words:
I did not come to Ayurveda; Ayurveda came to me as I was seeking healing, the type of healing the Western biomedical machine could not provide me. I knew that true healing involved all aspects of the human being: body, soul, and psyche. I have dealt with depression, severe allergies, digestive issues, and mobility issues. Biomedicine compartmentalizes the human into categories and sections. If you have depression, there’s a pill for that. If you have allergies, you receive an allergy pill. If you have bulging discs, they may suggest back surgery. For poor gut health, another synthetic chemical. Although these interventions are often helpful for people, something deeper than my intellect knew that this did not work for me; I needed something different.
One day I was sitting in a university course called Religion and Healing, and we had a guest speaker: Daryl Roberts. I quickly realized that the words emanating from him were Truth and coming from a transcendent source for which he was a vessel. I was captivated and drawn to what he had to offer like a thirsty traveler to a desert oasis; that which I was seeking had found me. I approached him, became his client, and we formed a friendship. As I began to see healing within myself, I had to get involved with his mission. I offered my services, and he found a place for me at Balanced Alignment.
I also asked him to write about his role and participation with Balanced Alignment Ayurveda.
My long-term goal is to build on Daryl’s legacy with BAA. We aim to be deeply involved in the Indianapolis community, and we will not stop there; everyone will know about the profound healing that Ayurveda offers them. A paradigm shift is occurring for humanity. You can see it, and smell it in the air. We did not start this shift, but you can be sure that Balanced Alignment Ayurveda will bolster it…
And his final words :)
My friends, I cannot thank you enough. I am bursting at the seams with enthusiasm for this mission, filled with love, and driven by God’s purpose for my life as one dedicated to serving you. The seeds planted by our ministry will continue to flourish so that all may partake in its live-giving fruit.
Churros for Dessert
My friends it’s simply a joy and an honor to serve you. Amazingly, the joy keeps increasing and the honor deepens further and further. It’s a blessing beyond my wildest dreams. To think that it was only 8 years ago that I saw the word Ayurveda for the very first time! And now look at what we’re creating 🙏 What an incredible journey we’re on.
From the bottom of my heart thank you.
Daryl Roberts
Cheers my friend 🥂 thank you 🙏🙂 It’s a ride for both of us 😄🙌🚀
This is so incredibly exciting! I couldn't be more thrilled for you, Daryl. I know you're going to do great and wonderful things through Balanced Alignment and Ayurveda and I'm elated to be along for the ride.
